At Christ Church CE Junior School, we truly believe that every single day at school makes a difference. When children attend regularly and arrive on time, they are able to settle into routines, build on their learning and feel a real sense of belonging within our school community. We want every child to thrive, and being here consistently is one of the most important ways we can help make that happen.
Beyond the academic benefits, regular attendance helps children grow in confidence, develop lasting friendships and build the kind of positive habits that will serve them well throughout their lives — including when they eventually enter the world of work.
We also want to reassure families that there is already a generous amount of time built into the school year. Children in England and Wales are required to attend school for 190 days out of 365, which means your family already enjoys 13 weeks of designated school holidays throughout the year, plus an additional 5 days when school is closed for staff training. We kindly ask that any holidays or appointments are planned around these periods wherever possible, so that your child doesn’t miss out on valuable time in school.
We know that life can sometimes get in the way, and we are always here to have a friendly chat if you have any concerns or worries about your child’s attendance. We are all in this together, and we want to support you and your family every step of the way.
100% Perfect Attendance | Well done! This will help all aspects of their progress and life in school. This will give your child a great start in life and supports a positive work ethic for their future. |
96 – 99.9% Good | Well done — strive to build on this. Keep up the great work and encourage your child to maintain their excellent habits. |
90 – 95.9% Concerning | Absence is now affecting attainment and progress at school. School will monitor reasons for all absences with the school office, family support worker and Headteacher. You may be required to attend meetings and work with the school urgently to improve the situation. |
Below 90% Unacceptable | Absence is causing SERIOUS CONCERN. It is affecting attainment and progress and is disrupting your child’s learning. We will work with you, the school attendance governor, wider agencies and Kent PRU and Attendance Service to improve your child’s attendance. This may be logged as a safeguarding concern. |
