Our PE Vision Statement
Intent: At Christ Church Junior School, every child shall have the opportunity to take part in a variety of physical activities on a regular basis in order to become physically confident and competent. We endeavour to educate children on a healthy, balanced diet and lifestyle with at least 2 hours of fun, exciting and active PE lessons every week.
Through sporting opportunities and physical activity, it is our hope that the children will develop a love and passion for sport which they will keep for life.
At Christ Church, we also strive to give as many children as possible the opportunity to compete in competitions, both intra-school (during school time) and inter-school (representing the school at local events). We hope that in doing so the children will develop greater confidence, team work and learn to win or lose with grace and sportsmanship.
Creating sporting leaders is of great importance to our school community. We offer many children the opportunity to lead sporting activities, organise games and events and learn to lead by example. By emphasising leadership, we hope the children learn the importance of communication, organisation, team work, resilience, perseverance and a respect for rules.
Our Curriculum
Implementation: Our detailed lesson plans ensure that staff are equipped with secure subject knowledge to deliver modern, high-quality teaching and learning opportunities for all areas of the PE National Curriculum.
All lessons are carefully differentiated which helps to ensure that learning is tailored and inclusive.

Progress of skills
Impact: Each unit of work is mapped against the progression documents to ensure that learners develop detailed knowledge and skills across the full breadth of the PE curriculum through engaging and age-appropriate curriculum content. Indoor units are often themed with strong cross-curricular links to other relevant cross-curricular, such as Romans for Year 4 and Electricity in Year 6. This all helps to make the learning memorable, allowing links to be made and ultimately creating a higher level of engagement and understanding.

The Daily Move
The Daily Move is a specially designed fitness programme for children which focuses on a different physical skill or key activity each half-term. The programme provides fun and engaging activities, which are easy to carry out and contributes to a childs 60 minutes of daily sport and physical activity everyday. Perhaps there are some games and stretches students (and the whole family) could be doing at home. Take a look and see!
