Spiritual Development

Spiritual learning

As a church school we believe that the whole school community deserves opportunities to flourish. We aim to create an environment that will nurture everyone’s minds, body, spirit and soul. We believe that spirituality should influence all areas of education and life. Therefore, we ensure that throughout the curriculum there are rich deep thinking opportunities which contribute to pupils’ spiritual development.

‘Wow’– allowing children to pause and observe some awe and wonder moments around them, for example feeding goats at Quex Park during a school trip linked to a living land topic.

‘Ow’– sharing uncomfortable situations they are faced in life and providing children with the tools to process these emotions, for example our relationship policy encourages restorative justice thinking.

‘Now’– leads children to think about how they can change negatives into positives, for example the extensive charity work linked to world and local issues such as WWF, each class sponsoring an endangered animal, and organising food parcels for the Salvation Army in our local community.

As a church school we are guided by the Christian faith and Christian vision and values reflect this. We truly welcome all and we openly encourage children to reflect in the way that suits them best, enabling them to participate in an ongoing process of spiritual realisation and to flourish in a way that will help them find peace, comfort and strength throughout life’s ever changing journey.

“Mrs Reynolds awe and wonder moment – A beautiful rainbow over Our School.”

Our Prayer space gives the children the opportunity to calmly and quietly reflect, helping them to enhance their spirituality.
