Safeguarding

Safeguarding Statement

Christ Church C of E Junior School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

We have a number of policies and procedures in place that contribute to our safeguarding commitment, including our Child Protection & Safeguarding Policy, which can be viewed below.

Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child’s welfare. We will ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with parents/carers first, unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child’s welfare.

We actively support the Government’s Prevent Agenda to counter radicalism and extremism. There is more information on the link below.

Our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) is Julie Holder, Assistant Headteacher.

Our Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSLs) are Sandra Davies, Learning Mentor, Joan Prime, Learning Mentor, Andrew Harrington, Assistant Headteacher and Neil Tucker, Headteacher.

Our Governor with the responsibility for safeguarding is Dr Clarke.

Standards of safety and security are high at Christ Church C of E Junior School and will always be our absolute priority.

Registration

Children are registered at 8.35am. If a child is absent without us knowing why we will contact the parent/carer concerned as quickly as possible.

Entrances and exits

Visitors are required to report to the school office before entering the school, where they are signed in and given an identification badge.

Children leaving school

Children are always checked out of school by a member of staff, ensuring that either a parent is there to collect them or that they have the necessary permission to walk home/to the school gate on their own. This applies at the end of the core school day and at the end of an after school club or tuition session.
